GENERAL COMMERCIAL LAW
 
We have vast experience in this aspect of the law, especially the drafting of general contracts, negotiations, mergers, acquisition and unbundling. This field of law is handled by Ramesh Harkoo.
 
MARITIME LAW
 
We have substantial experience in this field, having been involved in negotiations, settlements and litigation in the Magistrate's Court and High Court exercising its admiralty jurisdiction as well as parochial jurisdiction. Furthermore, our Mr harkoo has obtained a certificate in Maritime Law.
 
EMPLOYMENT LAW
  
We have vast experience in this field and regard ourselves as experts; having acted for inter alia, a large trade union. Although we have largely represented employees, we have also successfully represented employers. Our service to our clients extends from assistance at the CCMA, artibitration through to Labour Appeal Courts and High Court. These matters are handled by Ramesh harkoo and Dinesh Harkoo.
 
CONSTRUCTION LAW
 
Although we do not regard ourselves as experts in this field we have fairly substantial experience in negotiations, drawing construction and maintenance contracts, attending to disputes which are either resolved by way of arbitration or becomes the subject of litigation.
 
TAX LAW AND CUSTOMS
 
We have substantial experience in this field both academically and practically. Our Mr Reddy presents lectures in Tax Law at the University of Durban Westville.
 
INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY LAW
 
Although we have successful registered patents, trademarks and designs and also attended to disputed/opposed registrations, our experience in this field is limited.
 
CONSTITUTIONAL LAW
 
Although our experience at the Constitutional Court is limited, matters of a constitutional nature have often been raised in the course of our litigation matters and both Magistrate Court and High Court. Furthermore our Mr Harkoo has obtained a certificate In Constitutional Litigation. We are therefore equipped to handle matters of this nature.
 
PROPERTY LAW / CONVEYANCING
 
We have vast experience in this field having acted for various financial institutions. Furthermore, we have acquired the latest computer technology, which is compatible to the bond requirements of all major financial institutions. Our equipment enables us to link-up online with clients. This department falls under the control / supervision of our conveyancer Mr Reddy.
 
SMALL BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
 
Although we have substantial experience in this field, we have assisted Clients from the preparatory work in the business development to financial advice and expansion. We are also constantly involved in the formation of Close Corporations, the drawing of various business contracts including franchising.
 
COLLECTIONS
 
Collections have always been an integral part of the practice often being a stepping stone to litigation. We have hereto acquired the latest computer software to ensure an effective service to our clients with regular progress reports. This field falls under the administration of Nisean Gobind.

It has always been our practice to furnish our clients with a fairly itemized account. We therefore have no difficulty in complying with any of your billing structure and format.
 
RATES
 
Our rates are in conveyancing matters are governed by the applicable conveyancing tariff and in other matters our usual rates are guided by the High Court tariff. We are however prepared to negotiate our fees.
 
SUGGESTIONS TO CONTAIN LEGAL FEES
  
In all legal matters clients are usually informed of the avenues available and advised of the best route to adopt and the anticipated costs involved. In disputed matters clients are usually advised to attempt to settle rather that resort to litigation. We have often assisted client in reaching settlement by arranging a meeting with the other side. Further in litigious matters the merits of the case are carefully considered and clients are advised accordingly.
